I got the paid for Strava app at New Years and it has been the best thing. I look at my activity last year and it reads like a weather diary.
The promise of not getting my daily dot sees me out in all weathers now and the rainy days have been a joy. The liquid diamond coating that everything gains and the solitude to enjoy it undisturbed is total magic, and you captured it all so beautifully.
New subscriber here now, so happy to have found your lovely words.
I love the new buds. It's like Christmas, awaiting the arrival of a new gift, a new birth of presence. I love how you captured the water droplets. It reminds me of the song in Bambi: "Drip, Drip, Drop little April showers, beating a tune as you fall all around....". The forest is absolutely alive with song and sensory pleasures as it bursts forth, and joining you is such a treasure trove of curiosity and imagination. Thank you, Whitney!
I feel like Anne from Anne of Green Gables would love your substack so much. I love it too, this article made me feel so cozy I love the combo of your writing and photography :)
A lovely reminder of what is coming for me! I must live a little higher up than you do, because the snow is not gone yet here. Indeed, most roads & trails are still buried under the stuff.
As I write this, we are at 102% of median snow + water for the rain year here.
We didn't have our normal snow pack this year at all and have gone snowless this spring earlier than normal because of that. I don't mind having my trails open sooner, but I hope it doesn't put us into a drought again too soon for the summer.
I always feel like I’ve just inhaled a giant lungful of oxygen when I look at your pictures! Once again, the pictures of raindrops are my favorites. Perhaps I’m attracted to those the most because our climate is so much less lush than yours, and I miss that!
Beautiful
I love that you get outside even when it’s raining. And I love that you observe the little things.
Thank you so much Cheryl. 🥰

My senses come alive seeing these photographs, almost as if I am inside the raindrops on each and every petal. So beautiful, Whitney 💛
I love that! Thank you so much Ash. 🥰
