I had the same thought when I discovered them a few years ago, I didn't know they could be found in the wild. But they are something I look forward to now every year. ♡♡
Thank you so much for this Whitney. I am from southeastern Pennsylvania, and we have had intense heat, and severe thunderstorms. So as I took this walk with you, I could embrace the cool, I could feel the dampness, and those gentle raindrops on the foliage, and on that little pond, were just so calming and soothing. The heat has broken up some here but it was so intense, the heat indices were over 100-102-104. It was stifling. Thank you so much for this. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your posts. I love the forest, and the forest trails that I used to walk, I miss it keenly, so much, so that some days I am filled with grief. I moved to Pennsylvania after living in North Carolina and my life is very different here.
I'm really glad you were able to live vicariously through my photos. That heat does sound intense and stifling is the right word for it! I am not entirely looking forward to summer heat here, though it doesn't usually get quite to what you've experienced - it is often still too much for me. I'm definitely a spring temperature gal. ♡
Thank you, thank you for taking us on your walks, Whitney. Love knowing that your precious forest is getting a rainy day or two. Certainly, all the more beautiful for it!
I think this is my favorite of all your posts I’ve seen. I have always been drawn to old growth forests and even in climes where vibrant green growth marks spring and summer, there is nothing quite like those forests during or after a rain. Everything is more vibrant and you can almost hear the leaves and mosses drinking up the moisture. Your pictures are so beautiful I can almost imagine walking the forest trails with you!
P.S. while you’re sending rain to Ann in North Carolina, could you send some to the Texas Hill Country as well? It was 98 today and no rain in sight…no wonder I am loving your photos so much (sigh!).
Wow, thank you so much! You've nailed it, there is nothing that compares to how green and vibrant everything gets with the rain. I will send some rainy thoughts to you also! ♡♡♡
Lush and gorgeous.
☺️
Another chance to slow down, breathe, and be awed by nature. Thank you for this.
So glad to provide that for you. ♡♡♡ Thank you.
That lily is amazing. I had no idea they grew wild!
