Beauty in the Rain
summer is now upon us and I cherish every rainy day in the forest before the heat comes
Hello, quiet ones. Welcome back to the forest.
Summer has arrived and with it, the promise of heat and sunshine — though thankfully, it hasn't begun quite yet. The cool rainy days will get a little fewer and a little further between, so I’m making sure I cherish the ones that do arrive.
So come with me and let’s immerse ourselves in the moody tones, the dripping trees, and the silence that only rainy days can bring.
Step by step, we slowly traverse skinny trails that carry us through lush foliage and wind through endless trees. Moss covers the rocks we pause beside; softly drinking up the rain as it drizzles gently from above, growing ever greener with the moisture.
The old gnarled one stands above us, roots missing on one side, but still, it carries on, twisted and aged.
Ferns and leaves love this wet weather. The patterns found in gentle fronds and along the curve of a leaf can be found in every direction we look.
Our feet bring us to the edge of a small pond nestled into the hillside; boasting bright yellow flowers from the lily pads — a surprisingly hard thing to find around here. So we’ll spend a few moments here admiring the bursts of colour and the gentle ripples as rain falls from the sky.
As we close out our walk today, we’ll admire a few beautiful wildflowers; Davidson’s penstemon, forget-me-nots, and the vibrant orange lilies are all looking exceptionally eye-catching in the rain.
See you for our next wander,
♡ Whitney
