My heart goes out to everyone experiencing the fires, I can't imagine the worry and grief you must be feeling to have this all happening so close to home Whitney. Sending lots of love and strength ❤️
I understand the heaviness in your heart. Earlier this year, a wildfire came with 8 miles of my parent's home in Alberta, where we grew up.
They decided it was time to go. Sold up, found a place on the Island.
Friday, driving all their worldly belongings to their new home, they had to stop and turn around because of the fires in Kelowna.
Meanwhile, I know my cousin and her daughter got out of Yellowknife, but I'm not sure about her husband.
We emigrated to the UK 20 years ago, and the pull to return to Canada has always been there. But this summer, I'm not sure if there's anything to return to.
Oh Kirsten, that is so difficult. I sincerely hope they make it to their new home on the island soon, and safely. And with all my heart, hoping the rest of your family is safe. I had friends in Yellowknife also that have made it out and are in Edmonton now I believe.
This summer will definitely leave its mark on Canada, most of the country has had such a tough time this year. It's heartbreaking to see.
I’m so sorry to hear how bad it has become. With you already going through hard times as an HSP, I can only imagine how all of this must feel. Wishing you strength to get through this. I hope that it won't affect you or the wildlife around you more than it already has 💚
My heart feels heavy with worry for all of BC this last week... I have many friends also suffering as you are and worse - here in France this evening at about 16h a wild fire broke out on a hill just opposite my home, with the wind heading this way, my nerves are in tatters - thankfully I see no longer the flames and am hoping that the fire is under control. It has certainly highlighted the plight of anyone caught in such devastation though... for now we’ve been lucky - I pray it stays that way - for you too Whitney 🙏🏽
Sounds and looks like hell, so stay safe x
Thank you so much John 🤍

Yes, my parents arrived safely and are starting this new phase of their lives. Thank you for your kind thoughts.
I'm sure your friends are being taken care of in Edmonton - they took care of the people of Ft McMurray 7?8? Years ago and they'll do it again.

That is so scary to witness it so close to your home, I'm glad that it hasn't escalated further and I hope too, that it's kept under control. 🤍🤍
