With a glow in the sky and snow in the trees, a wonderland awaits our wandering feet. Clouds coalesce and dissipate, ebb and flow, illuminated by a softened sun, obscuring snow-capped peaks in a blink, offering a feast for the eyes in the next.
A landscape of blue and white unfolds before us; forested hills have been transformed into winter’s wonderland, contrasted by an endless depth of clouds and sky. Aged sentinels stand tall before a darkened backdrop, pillows of snow gently cradled in every nook and crevice.
Shadowed trails wind through a once bare clearing, the leafless trees now the perfect perch for icy crystals.
Through the shadows and back to the light, those wandering feet take us—back to an embrace of warmth from a winter sun. Mushrooms wear crystal hats that glitter and sparkle, nestled in beds of soft evergreen not yet buried beneath drifts of white.
Cedar boughs drift downward, bearing the weight of fresh snow. A glimmer of sunlight makes its way through the surrounding woods, caught in the snow, it lifts our hearts in marvellous appreciation of the wonder found on a winter’s day.
Our now tired wandering feet turn and head for home; to warm themselves in front of a roaring fire.
I hope you enjoyed this first foray into winter, thank you for walking with me.
