Tales from the Mist
another ethereal morning spent enjoying the abundance of mist we've been getting of late
Finally, it seems, we have arrived at a pause in the rain. Suns now decorate our forecast looking ahead into the week; a little brightness to ease us into February.
The prolonged rainy spell provided seemingly endless ethereal conditions; so much moisture in the air brought an abundance of mist and swirling fog, rain and warm temperatures melted snow, sending it cascading into the rivers so they crashed and tumbled with increased power, the lake level rose and rose, peaking at 4ft or more above its usual rocky shore.
Down at the small, secluded bay, my favourite solitary tree rises into the mist from the water; its rocky foundation submerged and nearly invisible beneath the high waters.
As the morning ticks slowly on, I watch the mist rise and thin; allowing faded beams of sunlight to filter through, and the trees to emerge into a more defined silhouette.
A thin layer of ice still rests upon the lake’s surface, far outside the open waters of the bay I visit. Untrustworthy to hold someone’s weight, I would think, after such a warm stretch of wet weather.
After much time spent happily watching the landscape emerge in front of me; I turn and make my way back through the rain-soaked trees.
Such epic beauty found within these foggy days. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
See you next time,
♡ Whitney

Wow, Whitney. These photos are hauntingly beautiful. I am often drawn to the solitary trees that live along my walking paths too. We’ve had many foggy days on the prairies recently too & I’ve been reveling in the calm, stillness that has draped itself over the city.
