Hello, my friends. Welcome back to the forest. Spring has sprung, and we are now well and truly into wildflower season. My heart is happy, though the FOMO is very real when I cannot make it out into the woods every single day to witness all the changes that are no doubt happening while I’m away.
I make it out as much as my body will allow, and I must make my peace with potentially missing out on a few things emerging in my absence. But enough of that, let’s lace up our walking shoes and head into a sun-filled forest.
Sunlight pours through the canopy above, dousing newly grown maple leaves in buttery warmth. Scattered beams filter through the dense greenery below, catching the plethora of new growth in a highlighted gaze. Shadows mingle and twine through the brightness, creating subtle contrasts and quiet beauty.
Long stalks of fern stretch ever upwards, slowly unfurling their fronds toward the light, while golden yellow wildflowers push their way through the detritus of the forest floor, dotting the brown and green expanse with pops of earth-grown sunshine.
A feathery friend sits nearby, barely visible through the dense bush, but oh, he can be heard clearly, chirping his song out into the air. How I wish to share that song with you, but alas, a picture or two must suffice.

The greenery lining the path I walk is overwhelmingly lush, and soon, I won’t be able to see very far into the woods beside me. But I find ground level to be far more interesting, and as I crouch down, I am rewarded beyond measure. Textures and patterns abound, and leaves newly sprouted remain nearly pristine and unmarred.
The bleeding hearts are starting, lifting their heavy heads above feathery fronds. And tiny stars are scattered, not above, but below, they poke their white and purple streaked petals through the undergrowth.
When I remain still for long enough, a lovely little moth comes to sit nearby, perfectly patterned wings held in tight while it rests and absorbs a little light and warmth.
Now, we must say farewell to the magic of the forest and each other. But we’ll see each other again soon, for another wander through the woods.
Until then,
♡ Whitney
A beautiful forest walk for me via your thoughtful post. Grateful for your sharing. 💜💚
Beautiful images - especially those last several of the star-shaped flowers and the moth. Those star-shaped flowers look like they are floating in the air. Thank you for sharing.
