I have many favourite spots in this little valley I call home — some only get visited in certain seasons, I have winter spots and summer spots, spots that are pure magic in the spring, and others that encapsulate autumn with perfection. There are a select few that I revisit time and time again, regardless of the time of year or type of weather.
The other morning called for time spent along the river, a quiet little corner where flowers grow, the sun filters through the trees, and the rest of the world disappears. A spot I hadn’t visited for a while.
An hour, maybe two, spent here amongst the wildflowers and tall grass, before the sun was too high in the sky, brought a spark of joy to my day.
I always stop to say hi to the creatures — most often, squirrels — who scamper by. And sometimes they pause for a moment too, perhaps to check if I brought any treats to share.
This particular morning, I was mostly enamoured by the soft purple flowers, both the fireweed standing tall, swaying gently in the breeze, and the monkeyflower thriving near the riverbank.
I’ve surrendered now, to the softness of summer, after the frenzied growth and excitement of spring. Nature seems to slow and settle, and I follow her lead.
I hope you enjoyed these moments, down by the river, on a beautiful summer’s morning. Consider sharing this post if you can, it helps me enormously to reach others who may appreciate a quiet moment.
With love,
♡ Whitney

Thank you for sharing this quiet moment with us. The pictures are absolutely beautiful and makes me feel like I’m residing by the river, too. What a dream ✨
