It’s that time of year when I start to have an overabundance of photos, and more coming in each week. Sometimes, it can feel overwhelming and images a few weeks old are quickly buried.
But that’s the beauty of what I’m creating here, each week, I have a place to share my favourite moments. Rather than getting lost and forgotten as I continue capturing, they have a home here, awaiting a revisit at any time.
For many years, I steered clear of anything man-made in my photos. I wanted to capture nature at its wildest — left alone and untouched by human hands. As I walked through this area though, one I’ve walked through many times before, I started to awaken to the beauty found in nature’s reclamation of spaces once more inhabited by people.
A simple logging road, in an area that I’m sure, was quite ghastly to look at in years past, but now, a testament to nature’s resilience when we leave it be. Ever so slowly, the plants and trees retake the cleared areas, and the road fades under the ground cover once more.
While everything is looking green and vibrant, it’s hard to ignore how little rain we’ve had so far this spring. Reminding me of our skipped autumn last year, I do hope it isn’t becoming our trend.
Living in the mountains, and what’s considered the PNW, it’s supposed to be wet, rainy, moody — and it’s hard to see the weather patterns shifting to dryer and warmer weather.
While the week ahead shows a very sunny forecast, I can only hope June brings with it some more moisture.
May has been a treat though, a beautiful time in the forest, and the plants have had a strong start to the growing season.
See you next time,
♡ Whitney
