Autumn this year has been, so far, one of the best we’ve had in a long while. There are days of sunshine, fresh air, and views of new snow on the towering mountain peaks.
In a perfectly struck balance, there are also days filled with rain. The steady drumming of rain on leaves, the wet smell of the earth, and the hillsides drowning in misty tendrils all soothe my soul to its core.
The colour found in the woods this year has been, and continues to be, stunning and eye-catching. Though our forests are predominantly evergreen, filled with pine and cedar and fir, there are scatterings of maple, ash, and other small foliage that bring pops of colour and light.
I have walked more and taken more photos than in summer’s entirety, just within the last 2-3 weeks. And I hope October brings more of this delightful balance of light and dark, sunshine and mood, sunbeams and raindrops.
Getting wet while out roaming the rainy woods may be uncomfortable, but in my mind, absolutely worth it. And I've enjoyed a few soaking rainstorms recently.
I hope, wherever you are, you’re enjoying autumn too.
Until next time,
♡ Whitney
Did you know I have a small shop where I sell prints of my photography? You can find it here — but if a photograph ever catches your eye here in these journals that isn’t in my shop, feel free to reach out, I am more than happy to create custom orders.
Lovely contrast and lights. The atmosphere of the forest just breathe through the pictures. I hope to get some nice shot as well this October, l love the constant changing of colours of this season. Especially as a macro lover
Oh my goodness Whitney, these photos are gorgeous! 😍 I especially love the one with the fog and the trees 🌲
