Along the Forest Floor
life in the small world
There is a world beneath our feet,
where mushrooms grow and fairies meet.
Trod upon, overlooked, and passed by unseen,
yet it’s a vast and wonderful world of green.
Over boulders and hillsides and fallen trees it grows,
down below, beneath our feet, where the wind barely blows.
Sometimes soft, sometimes prickly, even cones and miniature trees,
if you lie down to look, but be gentle, if you please.
Green, yellow, red and white,
endless shades and colours rise to the light.
Shape, texture, size and colour,
a universe contained in threads of wonder.
So when next in the forest, pause, look down and be aware,
there is life, there is beauty, there is a small world that also needs care.
There is moss, there is lichen, mushroom and more,
down here, below, along the magical forest floor.
Until next time,
♡ Whitney

Sigh… I needed this.
There is a world rich in details that are constantly overlooked...
