A Frost-Covered Wonderland
transport yourself to another world filled with sparkling ice and glittering frost
A day behind my usual posting time, but here we are.
Nestled in a tucked-away hollow lies a special place. And in this place, I can be soothed by the gentle rushing of a river and dazzled by the sparkling ice crystals in the marsh grasses. I can find myself a small speck amongst giant trees and pleasantly lost in the sheer variety of foliage and plant life.
There is enough moisture and humidity contained in this stretch of nature to provide some of the most eye-catching and over-the-top frost I could wish to see. Everything is coated in a layer, sometimes thin and dainty, other times thick and heavy, of glittering diamonds. Captured and frozen; inducing the feeling that I left my world somehow and wandered into another.
Eventually, I come to a place where the sun barely touches; the occasional beam finding its way through the thick tangle of branches, just enough to highlight an area entirely encased in white.
I am awed by each tiny crystal — layer upon layer it forms, until entire branches, needles, leaves, are encased in ice.
The sun, muted and soft, finds its way through the tangle of branches here and there.
It’s cold, of course, and the icy air makes my nose and fingers tingle. I don’t mind being cold, I’ve realized, if I am rewarded with scenes such as these.
I’m nearing the end now, of this exploration of wonderland. The beauty seems neverending and I am overwhelmed in the best way possible.
Until next time,
♡ Whitney
Beautiful - there is something so magical and awe-inspiring about such winter wonderlands... How water turns to diamonds, glittering and glinting, shrouding and sheathing branches, stems and blades of grass... Fabulous!
I love this!
